About JJ

JJ de Villiers started his mortgage career in 2008 as an intern at a private equity alternative investment fund while still attending San Diego State University. After graduating in 2009 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, JJ  joined the management team of the investment fund.  While simultaneously getting his Real Estate Broker’s License and National Mortgage Lenders License JJ originated and underwrote residential mortgages, purchased pools of distressed residential mortgages, serviced loans as well as raising capital for a publicly registered residential mortgage pool. During this most challenging period in the real estate and mortgage market, JJ gained firsthand experience in the benefits, trials and tribulations experienced by home buyers, making him eminently qualified to advise, find and close the perfect mortgage solution for his clients.


To better assist his clients JJ started working as a Production Manager for a V.P. District Manager and one of the top loan originators in the county. After a year working under the V.P District Manager gaining experience and knowledge in all facets of residential mortgage origination he was promoted to a Mortgage Loan Originator position.


JJ works out of the Downtown San Diego branch of American Pacific Mortgage (APM), a boutique residential mortgage loan originator. APM brings expanded product offerings, most notably the ability to provide financing for condominiums engaged in construction defect litigation, a common concern in Downtown San Diego and other markets.  Additional APM offers a robust array of conventional, government, jumbo and portfolio lending programs.


JJ was raised in La Jolla, in a large family well routed in San Diego. He recently married to his college sweetheart, Margot, and they live in Mission Hills.
